An original oil painting created directly outdoors at beautiful Staithes during a painting trip with fellow Northernboys (Artist group in the North of England). I stayed for a total of 3 nights and created no less than 13 new works. Staithes is such an inspiring place with possible paintings/composition everywhere you look. I even found myself painting nocturnes in the evening whilst painting friends sketched and painted in the pub.
This piece was painted from the top of Church Street. This spot offers are breathtaking view of the village with a backdrop of the famous cliffs. The winter sun was low and just catching the cottages on the right side of the composition. The cliff face in the background was bathed in the most beautiful warm light.
